The Over Drive

Once upon a time, at Kyoto there was a school named Muthahhari, which is usually called “SMUTH” and “The school of talent”. But it is not a talent school, just ordinary senior high school. And, there was a smart girl that so beautiful, the girl is Ran. Beside she is so smart, she also really liked singing and one Japanese song that always sang by her and also motivated her, “Over Drive” that song was originally written by Azuki Nana and Yuki Nakamura. And, she had a dream to be a singer, but she didn’t know, “Did it the best for me?”

Next day, at her school was held a motivation seminar “Get the most of your talent!”. Ran joined the seminar, with the hope that she may know her own talent. And, the seminar was changed her mind, motivating her to get knew what her talent is. She now tried harder to found the talent that her owned.

Accidently, she found a poster sticks at school’s bulletin board with big kanji of才能 (sainou, means “talent”). It’s about talent consultation program that was held by school. So she joined that program and she asked to fill the questioner form.

Three days after, she was received a letter from The Sainou Program that she was joined before. With full of spirit, she opened the letter.

“Dear Ran,
Thank you for joining The Sainou Program! Finally, after we read and analyze the questioner form that you were filled before, we know that your talent is…”
“SINGING”

“I saw a sign in dream, finally I know what is my real talent that can make me reached the dream!” said her. She so glad, she finally knew what talent that she had is.
“And don’t forget to join the talent show at 8 July 2011. We’ll waiting you here!” the letter continues.

And she so lucky, the day after tomorrow will be held a talent show at her school. So, she tried to show her talent by joining the show.

The day was come. She waits for someone to call her to the stage. After 10 minutes waiting, finally she called, and went to the stage with full of confidence.

“Good morning, my lovely audiences! Now I will sing a song, “Over Drive”. Hope you enjoy this!”
The instrument starts to play.

Her voice is really beautiful. Everyone was very impressed with her sound, except for Kudo, who hate the saddy and slow songs, like the song that was sung by Ran.

“Ah! What a bad song! Same as her voice!” said him.

“Hontou no kimi ni deau hi wo matteru.” the song ends.

Instantly, she got reputation on the school. She got reputation as “golden voice”. Since that day, she had very high motivation to be a singer and then tried to go abroad.

One day, that girl searched for funds for her concert of her first single. It is her strategy to go abroad. The target is 20 million rupiah. So, to get the money, she tries get donation from every class. At the fourth classroom there was Kudo who was mocking her at the talent show. He got mad and asks her to get out from the class. She was so sad and then crying.

Then, Eva, Ran’s best friend tapping her shoulder. Eva look there’s something wrong with Ran. She asks what happened to Ran.

“Ran, what happened to you?” Eva asked.

“Ah, Eva-neechan. Kudo was doing something bad to me.”

“What he do to you?” Eva is pretty shocked.

“He was mocking me when I was at his classroom.”

“What you’re doing at his class?” Eva asked again

“I was requesting for donation from class to class, for my first concert. When I was at Kudo’s class, he was very angry to me, I don’t know why. So that is why I’m crying here.”

“I’ll help you, my best friend. Don’t worry, don’t be sad again! Come on, wake up now! With great passion, I believe you’ll be success at your own talent!” said Eva with full of smile.

Then Eva sent an e-mail to Kudo, since in Japan there is no SMS.

“Hey Kudo, what you do to Ran? She was crying, and she was said that is caused by you.”
5 minutes later, Kudo replied.

“You know? Inside my heart, I was really loved her, but I don’t know how to express this feeling to her. Maybe, my behaviour was wrong. But, I swear I really loved her.
May I ask something to you?”

“Sure”, Eva replied

“Can you help me to express my love to her?”

“Just help her, whatever she needs your help.” Eva replied

“Okay, thanks, I’ll try.”

Tomorrow, after school ends, Ran brings the book back to the library. Soon after returned the book, she went to the park for just refreshing. Suddenly she meets Kudo at the park.

“I heard that you need money for your concert, isn’t right?” said Kudo.

“Umm… Yes.” Ran replied.

“How much money do you need?” said Kudo.

“I need about 20 million rupiah for my concert.” She answered.

“Okay, I’ll help you. Just give me more time.” Kudo responded.

“Oh, really? Thank you so much Kudo! You’re so kind to me!” Ran so delighted.
Then Kudo smile innocently.

“What about going home together?” Kudo ask.
“Ah yes! For sure!” Ran so delighted.

After the meeting, they went to home together. But the girl still remembered the last moment at the classroom.

“He was mocking me at the classroom before, but why now he helps me? Ah, just forget that. He just helped me.”

Several days later, Kudo found job for Ran’s concert. He was worked on Sodi’s car saloon as technical engineer. After he collected enough money for Ran’s concert, he gives it to Ran and she was very delighted.

The concert day is coming. Kudo is watching the concert that was held on Sabuga. Kudo was on full of spirit when watching Ran’s concert.

“Joushou koi wa yurai de Over Drive
Nee orite mujaki ni waratte misete
Maru de kaze no you ni suri nukeru kokoro ne”
(This rising love is shaking in Over Drive.
Hey show me your innocent smile!
It’s like I felt the wind slip through my heart quickly.)

That’s one part of Over Drive lyric, that reminded him at the park when he show his innocent smile to Ran. “Maybe Ran still remembered it…”

That concert was very successful. So many label owners attracted to make contract with her.
After the concert, the love between them is even realized. They are falling in love, and then, they’re engaged.

Time flows. And Ran became more successful than before. One day, Ran got order for tour around Europe and 10 years contract by one of world’s biggest entertainment company, Sony Entertainment Inc.

Kudo was informed by Ran that she was contracted by that company for about 10 years. And, Kudo felt very, very sad. He’ll miss her. They cannot reject the reality. So, they make a promise, to meet again at the same place, 10 years again.

And Kudo was sending e-mail message to Eva, who had helped her: “Thank you so much for your guide, Eva...”

Three days later after she went to Europe, she sent an e-mail with a video attached to it. And he opened the video. The video shows up when she singing Over Drive at front of her laptop’s webcam. And below the video, she wrote something:

Negau sora wa hateshinakute
Hontou no kimi ni deau hi wo matteru…”
(I want stay closer to you
I hope skies are endless
I wait the day when you come across the truth…)
